Live in the city? Love eating tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach and kale (gag) but hate having to pay out the nose for organic produce at your local grocery store? How about building your own farm? All you need is soil, seeds, hoses, sprinklers, a greenhouse, some fans and a whole buttload of space. Thinking about making one on your roof? I hope it's not over your bedroom.
Sign You Are A Nerd
You read books about comic books.
I'm currently crawling through Supergods by Grant Morrison in an attempt to look more serious and explain away the perception that comic books are kid stuff by reading an extremely wordy (though entertaining) argument. I could have read so many comics in the meantime.
Nemesis
Game Updates
Just as I started to find my comfort zone with Minecraft on the 360 and catch up to my kids' learning curve, they go and change the whole set up. Now I have to sit through tutorials from my eight and nine year old sons. Not at all patronizing.
Lesson Learned
Don't title the email folder where you file online gift receipts "Secret"
Finally, the Lego Minecraft sets are in stock so you order a few and plan on hiding them until Christmas rolls around. Maybe you manage to intercept the package at the door and hide it in the crawl space. But when your kid borrows your smartphone and goes poking around, they are going to figure out that the toys you received the delivery confirmation for are most likely not for you. GFuess who is headed straight for the crawl space?
Analysis
Star Wars Quote
"The last remnants have been swept away."
November 20th
DVD
The Expendables 2
VanDamme and Chuck Norris were round house kicking themselves for passing up on this over the top and over the hill action franchise the first time around so they had to jump in on the sequel.

In Theaters
Life of Pi
This is not about the numerical value, but about a young man who survives a disaster and goes on an adventure, all the while somehow managing to not be devoured by a tiger.
Red Dawn
Another remake of an 80s classic, but this time they may have gotten it right by adding Chris Hemsworth. Can he ever not sound like Thor when he talks now?
Rise of the Guardians
There have so many crappy animated features released just to capitalize on the time of year when kids will hit theaters that I am skeptical of them all. This goes double for any that feature the Easter Bunny ever since Hop.
Silver Linings Playbook
Two good looking, popular actors team up in a romantic comedy that is supposed to have a twist none of the others have. That is the real synopsis here, isn't it?
Buy Your Kids...
Skylanders Giants
The sequel to the popular video game that allows you to bring your toys to life has added larger figures this time around. It's not just a gimmick either. The new characters can accomplish new things on new adventures and are genuinely cooler looking with light up features on the figures themselves. Your old figures will also maintain their current levels and experience upgrades. No need to buy another portal either as the Portal Owner's Pack comes with the new game disc and one giant character to get you started.
What I'm Reading
Supergods
by Grant Morrison
Anyone who admires superheroes and considers the tales in comic books more meaningful and important than most give them credit should pick this book up. The final paragraph of the introduction reads: "Supergods is your definitive guide to the world of superheroes - what they are, where they came from, and how they can help us change the way we think about ourselves, our environment, and the multiverse of possibilities that surround us. Get ready to take off your disguise, prepare to whisper your magic word of transformation, and summon the lightening. It's time to save the world." Gave me goosebumps.
What I'm Playing
Fix-It Felix Jr.
on the iPhone
What a fantastic idea to make a retro game out of the retro game themed film set to be released by Pixar. All the fun of 8-but gaming is here for you to have in the palm of your hand. And it's free!
That to Which I am Listening
Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
Bruce Springsteen
As his latest tour continues, I felt the need to get back to the Boss's roots by listening to his first studio album. Good stuff.

Third Person Thursday: The Descent Into (March) Madness
I'm a working dad with two young boys. In my spare time, I like to write and influence my sons into doing as many things similar to me as possible in the hopes that I will raise them to be my minions.
The above three person image "Gamers" is the property and official logo of Transformer Generation Dad and was drawn and designed by this blog's creator and author with the help of an amateur graphic artist and web designer to be known presently only by the monicker SOC (mysterious, right? he's like a graphic design ninja). He also regularly upgrades the various images, features and overall design of this blog. Had you been reading from the start of this blog, you would have no doubt noticed the many improvements. You can stalk him, I mean, check out his other work on his very own blog. Should you like his work and wish to enlist his aid in your attempts at world domination, you can email him at soc.designing@gmail.com and I'm sure he would be happy to help you.
